Workpackage leader: TUBITAK

Other participants: CMI, GUM, IMBiH, NSAI, SIQ, Trescal, METU, SPARK

The aim of this work package is twofold. Firstly, to develop capabilities to provide traceable RF power and power-related quantities such as transmission coefficient, reflection coefficient and calibration factor (CF) of power sensor measurements for microwave calibration laboratories. Secondly, to establish both high attenuation measurement capabilities using a spectrum analyser and scattering parameter (reflection and transmission coefficients) measurement capabilities using VNAs in less experienced institutes such as IMBiH and NSAI. A vector network analyser (VNA) based power sensor calibration technique, which has recently become the preferred measurement method, will also be studied in this work package.

Task 1.1 will establish capability for the automatic measurement of RF power and assessment of the Monte Carlo simulation methods for the calculation of uncertainties, both of which will be validated by a comparison of direct RF power measurement.

Task 1.2 will establish capability for RF power measurement and power sensor calibration (calibration factor) using a VNA.

Task 1.3 will establish capabilities for the measurement of S-parameters (transmission and reflection coefficients) using VNAs and measurement of attenuation using a spectrum analyser or another high-dynamic range device.
